Dr. Ramil S. Bhatnagar is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with more than 10 years of experience. He serves patients at Orthopaedic Spine Institute with an exceptional quality of care for a wide range of spinal conditions. He is an attending physician and Vice Chairman of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center. He is also an attending surgeon at the Center for Special Surgery in Wall, New Jersey.
Dr. Bhatnagar completed his bachelor’s degree at Northwestern University, where he was enrolled in the prestigious Honors Program in Medical Education. He then completed his Doctorate of Medicine at the Northwestern University Medical School. During his medical school training, he was awarded a one year clinical research fellowship at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, England. Dr. Bhatnagar subsequently completed orthopaedic surgery residency training at the Boston University Medical Center followed by a spine and scoliosis fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery.
Dr. Bhatnagar’s top priority is always to help his patients achieve effective symptom relief and return to their everyday activities. As Dr. Bhatnagar himself says, "Caring for patients is the reason I became a physician. Whether that requires counseling, medication, therapy, or surgery, a satisfied patient is the ultimate goal. Not only is Dr. Bhatnagar dedicated to his patients, he is also dedicated to advancing the field of orthopaedic surgery. He participates in numerous research studies to bring the newest and most advanced treatments to his practice, and his work has been published in leading medical journals. Dr. Bhatnagar is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and has made presentations at universities, hospitals, and medical societies throughout the country.
Dr. Peter A. Rienzo is board-certified in both anesthesiology and pain medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology and holds added qualification in pain medicine. He is also board certified by The American Board of Pain Medicine. He brings his many years of experience to our patients.
Dr. Rienzo provides treatment for acute and chronic pain and provides all modalities of pain management, including medication management, anesthesia blocks, percutaneous discectomy, radiofrequency ablation, and implantable devices such as spinal cord stimulators. He is committed to helping patients achieve a safe and comfortable experience and the best possible outcomes.
Dr. Rienzo graduated with his bachelor’s degree in Biology from Pace University, followed by his medical degree from Saint Georges University School of Medicine. He completed his postgraduate training at Monmouth Medical Center, including internships in General Surgery and Internal Medicine and a residency in Anesthesiology. Dr. Rienzo served as Director of Surgical Services and Vice Chairman of the Department of Anesthesia at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

Steven Pietrofesa received his Bachelor of Science degree from Wagner College and the Staten Island University Hospital Physician Assistant Program. Prior to his employment at the Orthopaedic Spine Institute, he gained experience in the field working at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn and Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn. Steven is licensed as a Physician Assistant. This Brooklyn native was raised in Staten Island, but is now proud to call New Jersey home.
Seth Amster received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the college of Staten Island and simultaneously earned the Bayley Seton Physician Assistant Program Certificate. Prior to his employment at the Orthopaedic Spine Institute in 2008, he worked in a variety of medical settings where he was responsible for patient care in orthopedics. Seth is licensed as a Physician Assistant in both New Jersey and New York.
